As February marks American Heart Month, Apple Valley Place of Osage is taking time to spotlight what heart-centered care means in senior living.

STACYVILLE — Residents at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home enjoyed a Super Bowl party Sunday evening, complete with traditional game-day food, prizes and plenty of excitement.

The event was sponsored by the facility’s Auxiliary and held in the Activity Room, where residents watched the game on a new 75-inch television recently purchased through a grant from the Stacyville Community Club. Throughout the evening, residents also had the chance to win raffle prizes during the game.

WATERLOO — The Saint Ansgar Community School District speech team closed its season Saturday at the State Speech Contest held Feb. 7 at Waterloo West High School.

Saint Ansgar advanced two group improvisational acting teams to the state level. The team of Dylan Nunez, Grace Sutcliff and Sophia Squire earned an overall rating of one, the highest rating awarded at the contest. A second team, made up of Kaylee Haxton and Claire Squire, received an overall rating of two.

Osage — Osage students turned in strong performances at the Iowa High School State Speech Contest, earning multiple top ratings and representing their school and community at a high level.

Four groups earned Division I ratings, the highest honor awarded at the state contest, with several additional performances receiving Division II marks across a variety of categories, including acting, musical theater, radio news, film and improvisation.
